Good afternoon, I noticed on an aerial photo what appears to be a beach at the end of Mary Creek in St. John. Is anyone familiar with this beach? Is it public and easily accessible? I heard there was some good snorkleing at Mary Creek...any thoughts? Thanks in advance, Jon

Maybe the National Park Service would have a more prompt response for you - during business hours of course.

I do not believe the Mary Creek 'beach' you refer to is easily accessible. Most snorkel that area via boat or enter from the Annaberg road. We are going mid April and I intend to snorkel there so I can report back.

Here's a video clip - as you can see it's a very rocky beach and, even though this clip was obviously taken on rather a "weathery" day, it doesn't look very inviting from shore. I would imagine access to snorkeling that area from a boat would be much more pleasant!

If you are referring to the "beach" on the west end of Mary Creek, just park and walk in. Bring bug spray, carry water and wear shoes. I think a trail runs from the road that leads to Francis. The water is very shallow (belly scarapping) in some spots. DO NOT attempt to bring a boat in the west end of Mary Creek. (unless you are with a friend with experienced local knowledge). OK snorkeling but not has good as Water Lemon on the other side of the bay. Happy adventures!!!

St Thomas. Mermaids chair. You can usually see it on the plane ride in just before the airport. Long walk to get there
