I would like to hear from anyone who may have stayed at this resort recently to get a review of the resort. Is there any advantage to staying at the Frenchman's Reef section versus the Morningstar beach section?. We will have young adults as well as senior citizens with us.

Thank you

Hello Joe,

I have not stayed there personally however I had two visitors/family stay there. One wedding party stayed there - their wedding was not there as the groom was from the islands, brides family stayed there and very much enjoyed it. Another couple also visited and stayed there and enjoyed the room , pool, said the nightlife down at Morningstar was plesant and friendly.

I have stayed at Morningstar 3 times and have loved it - better than the Ritz where I stayed last November.

My preference for Morningstar is it is right on the beach and the sea is just a few steps from any room that you have, wheter it be garden or ocean view. Buildings are seperate and relatively small making it much less congested and intimate than Frenchman's Reef. Each building has 3 levels with no elevators. If steps are a problem for senors, it would be wise to request first floor although steps are not a problem for anyone with average walking skills. Personnaly, I request second floor, because your balcony places you above the walk by, but not congested traffic, and it can be reached with less steps than the third floor.

At Moringstar there is a nice deli attatched to the open aor lounge that the kids may like to congregate. There is also a lovely pool along the ocean.

Guests can enjoy the facilities of both. Frenchman's reef can be accessed by a fantastic, scenic short hike past the swimming pool, tennis courts, and up the steps to the top of the cliff. It also can be reached by shuttle which require little or no wait time. There is a beautiful pool with a swim-up bar.

Both have several restaurants. My favorite for dinner is Tavern on the Beach at Morningstar and lunch poolside at FR to enjoy the spectacular view and breakfast at Windows, FR to watch the cruise ships as they round the cliff to dock so close you feel that you can almost touch them.

Best way to get to Charlotte Amalie's shopping district is by their water taxi available at the base of the cliff.

Morningstar makes me feel as if I am on a tropical island as opposed to staying at a large hotel.

You and your family will have a wonderful time. If you have time, try to get over to St. John. The beaches are outstanding.
