*I have stayed many times on the East End at the Marriott Renaissance hotel
I do not see any listing for it any more
Have they closed?

I heard just about 2 weeks ago that the Ren was sold to a Mexican resort company (or at least a company that specializes in Mexican resorts) .

I understand that the General Manager has left (fired or quit??).

That is about all I know.

You will find their new name is Grand Bay Palace, and the website is at http://www.palaceresorts.com

The Palace line of resorts in Mexico are beautiful... huge. Will be interesting to see what changes they make to the Renaissance property on St. Thomas.

But the info given is right on target... not closed, sold and under new name and management. Give them a call and ask for details.

I have stayed at the Palace resorts in Mexico 5 times, go there twice a year for two weeks. I have also stayed at the Ren. on STT. Now that Palace have bought the Ren. you can expect some great changes. They run beautiful resorts with outstanding service and amenities, they will not stand for anything but A one service. I am looking forward to visiting the new Palace when they have all the changes done.
Now, a question for anyone in the know, When we stayed at the Ren. two years ago, we stayed in one of the Blazing Villas on the Ren. property. I know these were privately owned. Anyone know what will become of them> Did Palace buy them also?...jean
