Hi........we are going to St. Thomas in August 2008 and wonder which would be the best part of the Marriott to stay and why-Frenchman's Reef or Morning Star?
Also, would you recommend renting a car?
Thanks, Michelle

The actual Reef part of the hotel is like a high rise hotel, a gorgeous pool area, several restaurants BUT an long walk to the beach after descending an outside enclosed glass fronted elevator. It is a beautiful place to stay with more of a real hotel feel to it. At Morningstar, you can walk right out to the beach from more or less "garden" type villa units. It has it's own restaurants and a pool as well. I would choose this before the Reef proper, especially if you have kids.

You can rent a car right at the hotel but I would recommend getting the car right at the airport thru either Avis, Hertz or Budget. In fact I always use Avis, a few dollars more but by far the better service and more importantly (to me) the newest cars.
