I'm thinking of booking a trip to St. Thomas with my husband and pre-teen son. I really like the looks of the Marriott. Has anyone stayed there? How was your experience? I would be renting a car to see all of the sights. Is the Marriott far from it all?

The Marriott is close to Havensight, and therefore Downtown (shopping, some restaurants). It all depends on what you want to DO while you are on St Thomas....

snorkeling - yeah, you're at least a good 20 minute drive from the best spots (well, MY favourites, anyway ;)...)....

shopping - maybe a 10 minute drive (traffic depending) and at least that to find parking (which isn't all that hard....just gotta know the hidden spots).

St John - you can opt to take the ferry from Town/waterfront, or drive the 20 min into Red Hook and take that ferry (the Red Hook ferry to STJ runs every hour on the hour....don't have a clue about the Town ferry)

Dining - it's all over the island. Take your pick 🙂

Brenda we stayed at the Mariott with grand kids last July and I prefer the Wyndham. /The Wyndham just seemed newer and nicer altho we had a view of the harbor at the M, we over heard a lot of guests complaining about the quality of their rooms and did talk to several couples who said they would go back to the Wyndham. If I remember correctly the Wyndham had a kids night with movies. The Mariott advertises a kids club but there is no such thing. Also the snack shop at the M was very expensive, I recommend you make a trip to a grocery store and keep snacks in your room, it seems as if all the hotels have mini fridges.

Also, the Wyndham is in a much better location and I wish they would pay me for recommending them!

We will be there in 30 days! and have rented a condo next to Bolongo, your son would really like Bolongos West Indies night on Weds but be sure and make a reservation.

Our kids loved hanging out on the beach or pool, looking for the iguanas and going up and down Donkey hill, also they have the Best pizza at the snack shop at Magens Beach. I hope this info helps.
