Just was interested to find out the progress of the renovation project at the Marriott. Do they still intend on opening on time, or have they been backed up by weather, etc?

They're on schedule to open October 4th. Here's an article from yesterday's "St Thomas Source":

I am visiting St Thomas this weekend (9/24 - 10/01) and we have reservations at the Marriott. I had no idea about the renovation going on there. What is the extent of it? Is the place fully functional right now? I a travelling with kids and would hate to be stuck in a messy place. Appreciate the help.

A total of 185 out of 478 rooms remained open during the renovation, along with the adjacent Morningstar Resort. The main restaurant was also closed for extensive renovations but there are ample dining options on site as well as, of course, all over the island! Hopefully you're renting a car for at least part of your visit so you can get out and about and explore. But I wouldn't be concerned about the place being "messy" at all. Several visitors who have stayed at the Reef during the renovations over the summer have posted favorable trip reports on different forums and none has mentioned any discomfort because of the project. Have fun!

October 7 is the last I heard...if you have existing reservations, you will be put at the Morningstar section of the resort, which is a nice beachside area with nice rooms. You have nothing to worry about!
