5 more days until I'm in sunny St. Thomas. I'll be staying at the Marriott and I'm wondering if it's better to have the harbor or Carribean sea view? I want to be near the beach. I've also heard that there seems to be a musty smell in the air, but I don't know which side it occurs with.

We stayed at the Reef 1/16-1/23 in the east wing w/view of Morningstar Beach. Room was tiled floor. Bit of musty smell in the hallways, but I didn't really notice it in the room. Even if it had been stronger I would not have cared, wasn't in the room anyway beyond sleeping or changing clothes for the evening out. You'll have a blast regardless. Say Hi to Earl the bartender at the hotel's Sunset bar& grill/CoCo Joe's for me! Have fun!

I vote for the harbor view. Very pretty to look at the lights of the town. With a Carib view, all you see is water and Buck Island. If you want to be close to the beach, you should get a room in the Morningstar section.
