Hello!

Will be flying into STT to spend a week on Jost Van Dyke. I was wondering if there was a market in Red hook near the ferry dock to pick up water, rum, soda, snacks? Is it within walking distance of dock? or should we have the cab driver wait? Thanks.

take care,
Mike

Mike: Marina Market is across the street from the ferry dock. Very convenient. You can walk easily.

Ditto on East Ender's reply. LOVE the Marina Market. Very easy to stop there before catching the ferry - just across the street. You don't need to have the cab wait... We usually have one person stay w the luggage on the dock, while the other goes over to the market for some supplies! Have fun.

We've never done our shopping at the Marina Market before heading over to St John. Is it better than just going to the Dolphin Market? Better selection or lower prices? We're usually so anxious to just get on the next available ferry that we can't bear to let the dock out of our sight!

I like to take the high road and stop at Cost U less before getting on the car ferry

Dave in Boston - yes Marina Market is generally less expensive than Dolphin Market. And if plans continue as to what I last heard, once the new shops and offices are built, Marina Market will move to it and expand!

Sizzler, can you tell me more about the car ferry ? We are coming into STT around 2 p.m. on a Saturday and want to rent a car at the airport. Our plan is to take the car ferry to STJ that day for our week long stay. No one talks much about the car ferry on this forum. Hope it won't be a hassle but car rental is considerably cheaper at the airport. Also, how long and difficult is the drive from the airport to the ferry ? Thanks for your imput and help !
