Where we are from, to posses a small amount is legal for personal use. I use it for medical reasons and sometimes not for medical reasons. It really helps me eat, I have an digestive disorder.

Is it legal there too? Where do I find it when landing in St Thomas.

Hello Lynne,

It is illegal here. It can be found. Much of the criminal activity that exist here perpetuates from illegal drug activity so you do put yourself at some risk by seeking it.

The best location for finding it would be Coki Beach. There are always peddlers looking for a quick sale. Be careful.

I have to say this, even though I wish it won't happen, your names *MAY* more than likely end up on the front pages of Daily News or Avis as victims of violence. The medical reason aside, I'd urge you to do your burning at home and when you come down here to visit us just enjoy the beautiful views which you don't have at home. Imagine, after taking that first hit and thinking what a gnarly weed...that just may be the last thought you'd ever have. Not really worth it!

Come down, enjoy the beaches, the people, the islands (St. Croix most of all), and have a fantastic time.

Enjoy your visit.

What a strange thought.... Yes, some of you equate marajuana with rum.... but..NO..

There is no comparison. It is illegal to posses, let alone, "smoke" dope in these islands... we all know that "drugs" are responsible for MOST of the rape..violence..theft and family abuse and "killings"...in the USVI......(maybe elsewhere?)

OPEN your eyes and see....It might not be a problem for you..but it can cause others great pain....

And as I said on a similar post. When you are searching out this illegal substance, and get robbed in the process, don't go to the authorities saying you were mugged. You are just as responsible for your mugging as the one who mugged you!

no dope - you are kidding right? I pretty sure pot is not related to many killings and rape and violance. Perhaps you are thinking of harder drugs.

I can guarentee you that there is more violance/rape/killings attributed to rum then pot.

What about bringing my own pot. Are there customs to go thru since it is an American teritory?

They might get you at the airport. Between xrays and dogs... who knows? Just curious but, what's the going rate at Coki nowadays?

There is no customs coming into the USVI.
However, you will still undergo the standard TSA check before you get on the plane.
I've noticed that they do not just check for personal WMD, but also for contraband.
Don't want to have your vacation ruined by getting arrested before you even get down here!

My bad.
TSA= Transportation Security Administration, they are under the Dept. of Homeland Security and are tasked with ensuring the friendly skies remain so.
WMD=Weapon of Mass Destruction, oft-discussed, but rarely seen. The TSA is generally concerned with detecting any weapons and/or items that may be used as a weapon.
My point was that, while the TSA may be weapon-oriented, in my experience, the security at the airport has not completely abandoned searching for other prohibited items--like drugs.

Although I've hit the point in my life where pot makes me fall asleep rather than energize me, I can give a sure fire suggestion from my past history. As with any prime vacation spot....ask a cabbie. Cab Drivers always know where to get the best weed and it's usually a bit safer, but watch who you ask. Some casual conversation about the subject with your travel partner during your ride will prompt the cabbid to ask you if your looking for smoke....this saves the risk of asking someone who isn't so liberal on the subject.

Good Luck.

I would generally agree with Alan, but for one thing:
I know of at least one Assistant Attorney General who is also a cab driver.
It would REALLY suck to think you're being safe by asking a cab driver only to find yourself soliciting a prosecutor.
