Hi Everyone!
I will be visiting St Thomas on a cruise in about 2 weeks... I am so excited!! I have heard alot about the shopping and the great duty free exemptions. I wanted to know if we are allowed to mail packages home to the US (alcohol, etc.). If so, do the shops do this for you? Or you do have to take it to the post office? If you have to take it to a post office, is this easy to do?
Thanks!
David
If your only going to be in port for a few hours you might be hard pressed to find time to ship stuff back. The easier way is to bring an extra suitcase with you. Throw some towels in it along with big ziplok bags to put your bottles in. You can bring 6 bottles back as long as one is made in the Islands. What line are you cruising with?
It is illegal to ship alcohol in the mail (I believe cigarettes also)
Here is a quote from the USPS Website re alcohol......
"Other items, such as alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, liquor), are not considered hazardous but are prohibited and boxes displaying such markings are also prohibited.

No alcohol in the mail, but there is a full service post office at the Havensight Shopping Mall, where the cruise ships dock east of downtown Charlotte Amalie. Ask where you're docking up!
If your set on shipping alcohol back home we accept alcohol shipments (FedEx). It will have to be someone 21 or over to sign for it back home.
Just be aware that sending things via FedEx from USVI to stateside is VERY spendy!
