The mail service in the VI is part of the United States Postal system, and therefore has some great advantages in terms of locating a mail order business in the Caribbean. During my recent trip to the Islands I sent several 'test parcels' by first class mail to the states and was fairly happy with the fast delivery. I am wondering if any board members can relate their experiences using the mail service, and possibly if anyone is running a mail order business and can comment? Thanks for your help.

I send lots of stuff for our business. The USPS is the way to go cost wise. It really depends on what you are sending on whether or not it will work for your business. One thing you DO need to do if you have a mail order business in the USVI is get to the local Post Office and start kissing some butt. Excuse my bluntness!!!!! But, it took me years to get in with the PO on St. John. I had a lot of making up to do because of the person who used to do the mailing. Now, everything is great, but it took years to get to this point. Don't know how things are on STT, but STJ can be rough depending who is at the counter. Also, you need to check out customs regulations. This can be a real hang up, on the way in, and the way out. You can PM me if you have private details and I will see what I can do to help out.
