Hello, my boyfriend and I are staying at Maho Bay Nov. 5-12. We are very excited and have some things planned. Jost Van Dyke and the Baths are on the top of the list. Can anybody give us some direction/advice. We basically want to relax and enjoy the island (of course) but I am looking forward to some sailing and island hopping. We arent realy the "touristy" type and often find ourselves hanging with the locals when we do travel. I love it!! It is going to be our first time on this lovely island that we have heard so much about. Thanks in advance

No, I just checked here on this board and tried to decide based on how the responses went- some people clearly like to party and eat more than we do- I did look at whatever web sites were attached here and this is how we picked Limnos

It must be me with jet lag, I keep screwing this posting up. We used only the info from this message board to pick Limnos based on how people perceived the boats, just wanted less partying and more exploring and the Limnos folks seem to fit the bill.

The "Dam" hopefully wont break. Although with the rain we are expecting this weekend who knows. I am right off 140 ( more close to Norton) so hopefully it wont come anywhere near my house. I feel for the people who live right next to it. But on a lighter note, I cant wait to get away!!! I have been addicted to this message board, looking for new ideas and just trying to find out alot of info.

You will have a great time. You must go to Skinny Legs in Coral bay. We are from Maine and went this past July. The owners originate from the North East and are Sox and Pats fans. The bar is decorated as such.

It absolutely poured last night! Good thing they've replaced that dam. Can't blame you for wanting to leave - me too, but I'm not going for a few months yet... sigh!

Hi, sorry, I thought I had said all I could say above. I think I just searched Limnos from Google after reading about it here on the message board. I only used this board for guidence really, punched up Limnos and called to make a reservation for a day trip about Nov 8th I think. I don't have the info here at work with me but it was a little cheaper than the others- most importantly, they do a second trip to Norman Island I think for a second snorkle opportunity and that sounded alot better to me than cruising to yet another bar. We've been to Foxy's and LOVED it but would rather snorkle when the opp presents itself. I've written myself a note to find the Limnos site and will post it here tomorrow

Congrats Sue on the new dam- boy they worked fast on that didn't they? About 12 days or so and counting- we went to North Adams this weekend and it SNOWED- boy, was I in a bad mood, but the thoughts of the ferry crossing from STT to STJ kept me from losing it completely!

Hi Scooby, I just saw a thread about Limnos on page 1- someone lists their website as www.limnoscharters.com. I called them directly, don't recall anything about a discount but they did pick up the phone right away and were easy enough to deal with. Some thread-ers are saying that they are party-oriented and carry alot of people but I didn't get that impression from earlier threads. We're not nuns but we will ignore the drinks all day thing, doesn't mix with snorkling and I still like the idea of 2 separate snorkle sites, particularly since we probably wouldn't be power-boating around on our own all that much. Good luck- if this site doesn't help you, I'll still look up my info at home.

Oh, the thought of my wonderful Maho brings back such sweet memories. I worked there in `03 as activities director. The best time ever. Now I am the first mate on Survivan. She’s a gorgeous 47ft sailboat. If interested in sailing please look up our website. www.stjohnyachtcharters.com
Unfortunately, we may still be in Virgin Gorda when you are come. Jost is beautiful, but no good snorkeling. The Baths have great snorkeling and exploring, but very busy and a long ride over. Everyone visiting at the same time should get together and rent a private boat to go to the Baths. Cruz Bay Water Sports and NauitNymth rent out boats with/without captains. There’s something about being around friends instead of a ton of strangers that make it so much better. Snorkeling around Waterlemon is in walking distance to Maho and great! Dinners at Maho are expensive and not worth the money. Luckily, a taxi goes ever hour to Cruz Bay. I can help out with where to eat too if you’d like.

Good Luck and Have Fun,
Michelle
