We're going to spend a few nights on our upcoming trip to the UVSI at Maho. I logged onto their site last night to make the reservation and it asked me if I had a preference for location. That got me thinking about it and I did some reasearch. I read that some campers were displeased with the location of their cottages (tree houses) for one reason or another (noise from generators, too many stairs, no view, etc).

I don't mind the stairs...but definitely want the noise to be at the bare minimum, the vew to be great and don't want lots of people walking by my cottage to get to their own (I guess I want to be at the end of a given walkway).

Any suggestions on good locations? I am securing 2 cottages, and would like for them to be close to one another.

Thanks.

My husband and I stayed in the Harmony Studios, 400+ stairs from the beach. We loved it, even got use to the stairs. We did notice some of the tents near the kitchen were subjected to a lot of refrigeration noise, not my idea of paradise!! I believe those would be E3-E8 and maybe E9-12. I would aim towards the A's and B's, closer to the beach and waves. Can't really help you with the view as we didn't stay in the tents, just remember feeling really sorry for whoever was staying in E5! Have fun!!

Thank you Kathie!

When you reference E3-E8 and E9-E12, are those the tents? Are the As and Bs tents?

Just want to make sure you are talking about tents, not Harmony studios.

Did you enjoy it?

Bluwater, Yes I am refering to tent sections. The tents are arranged in sections; A,B, and C all being below the store, registration, and dining areas and closer to the beach. D section is just above the store/registation and to the right of the dining. E is spread out above the dining and goes all the way up to the studios. By looking at the map A1-A18 look more secluded and may have a good chance of a view. They do look like a bit of a hike to the dining, but it really isn't too bad. We stayed at Maho/harmony for 10 days and we loved it!!!! It was really hard to come back to northern NH in January. It took both of us about a month to stop being depress, because we weren't in St. John.

Thanks so much. They don't publish a map anywhere online, so I was totally in the dark about the layout. I don't mind the hike, so A might just be the right place for us.

From what you can see on the map, are there tents that are at the end of the walkway...so that nobody would walk by or come near my tent?

Sorry for asking so many questions.

I really wish they published the map online, as Cinnamon does.

And, I'm sure coming home to New England in Jan is no fun!! The only remedy is to begin planning the next one!

The following tents look like they are grouped together in sets of two on their own walkways, A18&A17, A15&A16, A13&14, A11&12, A2&3. Good Luck. I would love to plan the next trip. It has been 5 months and I still read this message board every day!!!!!

I worked at Maho in October so have pruned around every tent. I thought I'd remember which ones I'd want if I were to return but can't. I have my map here and agree with Kathie about the A groupings, A 31& 32 were also nice, closer to the bathroom too. It's much harder than it looks to get the views cleared and A section gets alot of sun so you appreciate some shade. Have fun!
