Can anyone tell me if it is safe to go to these two places for dinner and staying after dark? We have a rental car, I know Mafolie is up on the Mountain, but is it safe too park around there? What about Point Pleasant, do you park and ride the Gondola up to the top?

point pleasant (do you mean paradise point?) wife and I rode the gondola up and had dinner last thursday for the ride, dine & jazz (highly recommended) and yes you do park at the bottom and ride it up. The parking is right next to the gondola and we felt safe. I wouldn't go to many places after dark, especially near CA. We felt safe in red hook also. there is plenty of parking, it is lit up w/ lots of people walking around.

My family just returned from STT and we had drinks at Mafolie. It has such a beautiful view! I had been there with my parents back in 1978 and is exactly how I remembered it. As for being safe, I would say it's just as safe as any other place in STT after dark. There is really nothing around it. The most "unsafe" part might be navigating the windy roads after dark. (and I wouldn't let that stop you!)

The Mafolie is a great restaurant and has the most fantastic view, especially at night. Do, indeed, go, and ask for a table by the railing. As Rose mentioned above, the road is very winding and steep, and there are not many parking places. I would recommend taking a taxi just to make the experience more enjoyable for you.
