Hello,

I am a Family Nurse Practitioner in Ohio and my husband is a LPN. We are interested in coming to St. Croix to help in the relief efforts via medical or supplies. Stocking boats to take supplies to other islands in the area. Please let me know how to go about this and if any airlines are offering discounted airfare for volunteers.

Thank you,

Michelle Sasala MSN, FNP-BC

I'm a Psych APRN from Connecticut and I'm looking to volunteer in St. John. I can assist with medical, psych and animal rescue efforts. Please let me know if there's a way to help.

Since you are located in the states and an d want to help the relief effort and not just looking for a vacation, go to Texas or wait until after the weekend and head to Florida. It's within driving distance and no worries about airline discounts.

Florida and the mainland will have an easier time with recovery. There's already talk of people from Texas heading to FL, even though they've been doing cleanup from Harvey for over a week. These smaller islands need help too and have a smaller pool of people who can help.

I'm a paramedic, firefighter, and structural collapse technician.

They need help as electrical linemen and construction workers. But with limited and I mean limited places to put people up will be in great demand. So I would wait until they put out a request for such assistance rather than jumping on the next plane.

I am interested in helping the areas that have been devestaded by IRMA. Having just gone through the storm myself and being blessed by no losing anything I would like to pay it forward to the residents in this area. I am not a medical professional but I have many building skills and can help with rebuilding in the area. I really would like to give back to these people who are in so much need. I can volunteer my brawn in cleanup and am a very hard worker who never gives up. Please accept my services to help. Jacci Mooney

There is plenty of brawn since no one is able to go to work or at least most. People pretty much need to stay away unless they put out a call for volunteers. People are being beaten and robbed of what little food they have by those who don't have. So if you really want to help, send care packages to the Post Office with canned and dry foods as well as first aide supplies.
