My wife & I love to travel and have visited St. Thomas before and are planning spend Jan & Feb 2008 on St. Thomas.
Since we will be there for two months this time we are looking for new ways to meet people both from the main land & the islands.
Last year when we spent time in Mexico we learned there were clubs or groups of American's that got together weekly to socialize or do things to help the locals - it was a great way to meet people & do things together. Is there anything like this on St. Thomas?
How many golf courses are on St. Thomas?
Who offers the best prices in Jan & Feb 2008?
Once you get here, depending on where you are saying, there are many places to meet people. Not sure how many couples though.
There is only one golf course. Mahogany Run.

January and February are high season. While food and such will be the same price, accomodations and transportation will be at a premium. You'll be amazed at all the Americans you meet here! 😉
What are we talking about here? You can meet people everywhere. Is this Saturday Night Live?
Traveling man,
Go to the Relocation Message board upper right hand, go to community, there might be somethings of interest for you.
If you play bridge, there's a bridge club that meets at least weekly near Randy's in Al Cohen's Plaza on Raphune Hill. Anyone is welcome.
If you play bid whist, that group meets on Wed nights in Frenchtown.
If you play Scrabble, that group meets on Thur night at Frenchtown Deli.
Church is a good way to meet people.
There's isn't a group of Americans that meet to "help out the locals" only because the VI is considered more middle class than some parts of Mexico and Latin America. But there are volunteer opportunities to help the overall island when there are beach clean-ups, etc. Those are usually done in summer, though, so school kids can also participate.
You're welcome to come to St Thomas/St John Chamber of Commerce functions that are held periodically at different venues. The events are usually posted in the VI Daily News or St Thomas Source.
You may be able to volunteer at The Humane Society or with any group that you affiliate with in the States. Many of them have chapters here. Try Google.
We live in a most diverse community, a veritable "melting pot."
As Karen pointed out, there are no American get-togethers to "help out locals" per se because the majority of residents ARE Americans period. I know next to nothing about Mexico but do know that in several ex-pat countries you have these little enclaves of Brits or Americans who band together and do their thing. Not here!
Not sure what Ronnie meant about meeting "couples" - Ronnie? Cheers!
