I'm making plans for our second visit to St John next summer in either late June or early July so I'm working on narrowing down the villa list (which is must less challenging the second time around!!). It will be myself, husband and our 14 yr old daughter, pool and a/c in the bedrooms would be a necessity.

Hawksbill - Great Cruz Bay / Intima Sea - Chocolate Hole (caribbeanvilla.com)

Tesseract - Upper Choc Hole (privatehomesvi.com)

Paloma Blanca - Gift Hill (destinationstjohn)

Sea Dream - Choc Hole (vivacations)

And two other maybes on my list are Cloud Nine villa (Gift Hill) and Star Villa (Cruz Bay).

We rented from VIVA last time and stayed in the Contant Point area overlooking the Westin and we liked the short ride into Cruz Bay. We're leaning more towards the first week of July this time so we can see the Carnival parade (last year we were there the last week of June so we saw some of the festivities but missed the parade and fireworks). Also wondering if any of these places in the Choc Hole/Gift Hill area would have good views of the fireworks?

I'm leaning mostly towards Tesseract, we seriously considered this one for our first visit but the hesitation that I continue to have is that there's a/c in only one bedroom but it appears to have a huge pool and great views although the pictures look dated so I'm a bit concerned that the villa is also dated.

Any advice or input on any of these villas or their locations would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi,
Check out Le Virage in Rendezvous Bay (Destination st john) Doesn't get much press and I don't know why, it is a great villa. 4 bedrooms, two upstairs on either side of great room, pool a/c and great views. Pictures on the website don't do it justice.
I have pictures if you are interested. We stayed there two years in a row and now are looking in the Coral Bay area.

We have stayed at Villa Cielomar in the past and have scheduled another trip there in early June 2008. It is spacious and well maintained. There is A/C in the master bedroom. But the bedroom in the upstairs loft is cooled by fans. It is very reasonable in cost and we, in particular, love the pool. It is also a quick walk into Cruz Bay if you want access to town.

Can't speak for any of your selections although I highly recommend Private Homes. I would contact Mary-Eileen direct via e-mail to discuss the other rooms without A/C and determine if that works for you. For us, it really depends on the sea breezes and we prefer Reef Bay area for those if A/C is not available.
Do not be too concerned about the photos and condition of the villa as PH keeps the homes in great condition. It will not be like some of the newer palaces but then you are not paying those prices either.
Gift Hill should provide some view of the fireworks but I do not think Chocalate Hole will.
