We will be traveling to STT in Nov for a week and are looking for some help in deciding where to stay. I have been doing some research online and haven't been able to find THE place that calls my name. I have been to STT twice but only for the day on cruises. Would really love to find someplace to stay that isn't a huge hotel with tons of people. I'm a 'hammock, beach, quiet, read a book, get a tan, have a delicious rum drink' kinda girl. We want to stay somewhere that has beaches on the property and restaurant/food options nearby. At this point we do plan on renting a car to do some sight seeing on days when we haven't fallen asleep on the beach..and I'll be sure on those days to remember my sunscreen. Thanks 🙂

If you were traveling to St Croix, I would recommend Cottages by the Sea. But I'm sure others will chime in about STT. Good luck.

I'd suggest looking for a beachfront condo at Sapphire through www.vrbo.com, or Secret Harbour Resort which doesn't have units on vrbo but whose units are booked through the resort itself. Both meet your criteria even though they are not b&b cottages.

Unfortunately, there aren't any cottages on any of the beaches on STT - only St Croix.

You might want to take a look at Pavilions and Pools. It's very close to Sapphire Beach, and very private with each unit having its own pool. Sapphire condos are a good option, too, and there are waiters who can bring drinks right to you.

Cinnamon Bay on St John is a campground with a few cottages on the beach. There's also a restaurant/bar on the grounds. If you google cinnamon bay cottages, you'll find several discussions about the merits of the cottages.

Bluebeard's Beach Club on the south side of St. Thomas is a small (74) unit timeshare resort right on its own lovely beach. It has a pool with swim-up bar where breakfast and lunch are served. Although there is no restaurant there at the moment, I believe one will be taking over the space in December. Each unit, however, has its own kitchenette. There are studios, loft/studios and one-bedroom units. Since the resort is between and betwixt town and Red Hook it's pretty central to most restaurants. The resort is a Wyndham Vacation Club property, but there are ways to get a room a little bit more reasonably. PM me if you are interested. Oh, and my avatar picture is the view from the lounge on Limetree Beach, which is the beach the resort sits on.

Why does Bluebeard's Beach Club always slip my mind. I know it from years back when it was the Limetree Resort and, although it's now under different management it remains the same laid-back place it always was and would certainly be worth a look-see by the OP. I recently closed my restaurant on St Thomas but over many years regularly hosted many visitors staying there and never once heard a negative about their experience where their vacation "home base" was concerned. Definitely worth a look.
PS: Gerie, your toad awaits your next visit!!!

Both Bluebeards and Bolongo would fit the bill nicely! Please write a report here after you visit and let everyone know how it went.

With all due respect for your opinion I wouldn't add Bolongo to the mix in this case and wouldn't compare it to Bluebeard's. The beach is very mediocre compared to that at Sapphire, Secret Harbour or Bluebeard's Beach Club and the OP isn't likely to find the hammock/reading/quiet relaxation there that she's seeking. It works for many and I'm in no way knocking the resort but, in my opinion, it isn't a viable alternative in this particular case. Cheers!

STT what a shame you feel that way! Have you ever stayed there? The staff and family who own it have always gone out of their way to take care of us (once when I complained the bar did not have my favorite brand the next day they did). The beach is smaller than Sapphire but kept clean and well groomed. There are two restaurants on the property (with full service bars) and another within walking distance. They usually have live music once or twice a week and the daysails on Heavenly Days were great. The kids love using the beach toys they provide. When Wifey wanted quiet she would set in front of our room or stroll to the west end of the beach (away from the pool). Each to his own I guess!

Scubado, please don't misunderstand me. I'm not knocking Bolongo at all - far from it. No, I haven't stayed there but St Thomas has been my home for almost 30 years and I do get around! I know many people who have happily stayed there, have been inside several of the units over the years, have been to functions there and have eaten there. Everyone has their own idea about what a vacation should encompass and, in this case, I think the OP could find something more suited to her needs. It's not a beach I would go to for swimming as it's quite rocky and can also be quite turbulent and it's a much "busier" beach than many with more families and children than those seeking quiet relaxation. The OP should certainly look at all options but, as you said, each to his own!

Hi rivahlvr ,

Have a look at this cottage on Gibney beach, next to Hawksnest on STJ. You will have the beach at your doorstep and pretty much to yourself
since there is no public parking around.

Have fun.
