We will be wheels up in 31 days. I have read a lot of great posts this last year about things to do and places to eat. Now, I am looking to find out suggestions from anyone on what they think are the best restaurants on STJ. We would prefer a place that will accept us in shorts, T-shirts and sandals. And, we have no food dislikes except bad food.

Thanks for any information!

Skinny Legs is a must. Also, while we didn't make it there, I hear Shipwreck Landing is also very good.

Not sure on what part of the island you will be staying....Skinny Legs and Shipwreck are both on the Coral Bay side.
In Cruz Bay for ultra casual , I would recommend the Banana Deck, the Beach Bar and Woody's. We like having breakfast at JJ's(great people watching) and Sunday Brunch at Miss Lucy's(also east end, past Coral Bay). Panini Beach Cafe and Rhumblines are also favorites for semi casual dining. And for a special night out......LaTapa and Tage are both wonderful. Have fun :)....mia

My favorite for authentic Caribbean food would be Miss Lucy's - not only is the food wonderful, but the ambiance - sitting outside on the water - why, it's just dreamy!
Sorry, no website, but here's a picture of my husband relaxing at Miss Lucy's after a delicious meal 🙂

Another favorite is Rhumb Lines - love the romantic-casual-islandy ambiance - and the food is EXCELLENT!

My favorite for a very relaxed atmosphere is the Banana Deck - with that easy-breezy-feel - pretty good broad menu.

T-shirts, shorts & sandals are fine at all of those 🙂

Go to JJ's Texas Coast for breakfast, lunch in Coral Bay, and definitely Lime Inn for dinner. Everytime we try somewhere different, nothing compares to the Lime Inn for us!!

All of your suggestions sound like great options for us. I will put together my list based on your emails. The pic at Miss Lucy's looks wonderful! Thanks to everyone for responding.

I don't bring any shirts with collars and my shorts aren't especially nice. We find plenty of places to eat. We do our fine dining in Boston. On STJ we like to find places that couldn't exist in Boston.

We always like to get some local food when we're on STJ. Favorites for dinner in Cruz Bay are Sogo's (West Indian) and Sosa's (Latin Caribbean). For lunch we get some pate at Hercules or at one of the stand/cart/truck operations around the pavilion or the post office. .If you're on the Coral Bay side, Miss Lucy's and Sweet Plantains have good kind of upscale West Indian food. The Sputnik bar has food sometimes and there are a few small operations around the triangle.

Other places where we feel comfortable in our t-shirts and Tevas and like the food are Morgan's Mango, Fish Trap and Lime Inn. In Cruz Bay our favorite breakfast place is Chilly Billy's. In Coral Bay we head to the Donkey Diner for breakfast.

If you're out that way, Maho Bay camps has a restaurant with one of the best locations on the island. Breakfasts are real good and dinners are okay.

Just got back and we ate at Banana Deck after a day of snorkeling. Before heading over to the car ferry for last call (7:00). They have really good wings. I also enjoyed sitting up by the bar on the top level and watching the sun set. Very nice.

Gotta agree with Rhumblines. It's wonderful! It's the first place we go after we check in. And then we go back again during the week. This year I figure to be there at about 6PM on June 2nd. Counting the days!!

Thanks for the link to their website. I didn't know they had one. Makes me hungry!!

Our favorites are the Lime Inn, Morgan's Mango, and Rhumblines. I highly recommend all 3 places. They are all on our "must visit" list every time we go to STJ.
