My husband and I are traveling to St. Thomas Jan 28-Feb 5. We are looking for a good, but reasonable (dinner entree for apprx $17-23) for a romatic date night. Any suggestions?

We enjoyed the Tavern on the Waterfront in CA. It had good food, great service, and a nice view of the harbour if you get a table next to the windows. The aptmosphere was very nice and the harbour lights on the sea were great at night. It also had a loacal jazz trio playing and some very interesting artwork that was actually made from leather. It is very close to the Greenhouse Restaurant in downtown CA. You can check it out at www.tavernonthewaterfront.com. It is kind of upscale but not real pricey. We were told that several celebrities o there when they are twon but it may have just been hype. The owner came over to our table and chatted with us which made for a very pleasant experience. Overall we thought it was very nice and cozy with a romantic charm.

Oceana might not be $17-$23, but I bet it's pretty close.
Great atmosphere.

Indigo fits the bill, too- outdoors, great food, good service, consistent. One of my favorite places to eat!

Agave Terrace has a lovely sunset view, and is about in that price range.

Best,

LR

Thanks to everyone who's responded. We appreciate all of the insights. We will check out those recommendations.

Has anyone every been to Herve's Rest & Win Bar? How is it? Is it really expensive?

Also, Is the Sushi at Beni Iguana's decent?

Herve is rather expensive, though a nice setting.

I also recommend Off the Hook in Red Hook. Finding a nice place with that entree price is going to be tough...but Off the Hook is right by the marina (AYH) and has a nice view of the boats.

The cheapest entree at Oceana is $29 - I was there a few weeks ago.

Bene Iguana's is great sushi.

As a restaurant owner and the sole cook at my place where chefs from many different establishments come to eat with gusto, I really care about food. On the few occasions when I do get out to eat I naturally think about price, service, ambience and - last but not least where visitors are concerned - view. I recommend Banana Tree Grille at Bluebeards Castle. Liz and Jerry Buckalew have for many years run a consistently first class act.

Unlike so many other restaurants where chefs come and go and thus quality fluctuates, their chef, Patrick, has been with them for donkey's years, His mark is on every dish and the food is outstanding!

Their prices are most reasonable, the ambience is great and the view overlooking the WICO cruise ship dock is awesome.

Just my two cents!
