Hello Everyone!

It's my first post, I have our flight, cottage, and rentajeep all set. Looking to do a day trip on a boat for snorkeling and a stop at Jost Van Dyke. Does anyone have any recent recommendations? Thanks so much. My wife and I will be spending 4 nights wed - sun on STJ. We enjoy fun evenings. Is there a must do spot for wed, thur, fri, and saturday nights? I've heard about Woody's, any others? How about in Coral Bay? Thanks.

take care,
mike

Hi Mike,
We just got back from St John yesterday. We took the New Horizons II day trip to the British Virgin Isles. We had a great time!!
The crew were wonderful. There were 16 of us passengers. From St John, our first stop was the Baths - which were nice, but not as great as I imagined. Then we went to another island for lunch - the food was excellent (i got the ribs = a true southern girl). We then went to another island for snorkeling - which was great. Lastly, we went to Jost Van Dyke, the Soggy Dollar Bar (among others there) - and you could swim, drink, lay on the beach, in hammocks are whatever. We had a great time on the trip. I would highly recommend the daytrip. On St John, we liked Duffy's, Chloe & Bernards (at the Westin). Trunk Bay was beautiful and did some snorkling there. Also WaterLemon Cay has great snorkling.
Hope this helps,
Diane, Raleigh NC

I don't know if you're looking for a powerboat or a sail, but we chartered a powerboat from Shag Excursions during the last week of April. Call the captain, Kelly, or email her at [email protected] for rates. We had a great time; there were only five of us and Kelly took us to some great, private snorkeling spots.

I think we were on Jost about 1 - 1 1/2 hours, maybe longer though. I didn't have a watch on and didn't pay any attention to time. It was nice not having to watch a clock.

Last week, we took the Breakaway (www.visitbreakaway.com) on the same itinerary that Diane described. We had a fabulous time. The crew was so much fun, and the stops were great. The lunch spot is Pusser's on Marina Cay. We had great snorkeling, and the Baths were cool, although a little crowded. I highly recommend this trip.
