My husband and I are trying to coordinate a trip next January to see if relocating is really for us. Several of our friends have expressed an interest in joining us for the vacation, so we're looking for lodging for 6 people starting at the beginning of January.

I've looked extensively, and found some reasonable condo, house and villa rentals, but was hoping for the suggestions of locals, as you only see the rentals in the best light online. The Sanctuary at Proud Rock is one I've seen, anyone been there, know it? It's a bit on the pricey side for what we want to spend though, is it worth it? Our criteria is that we want to be on St. Thomas, and we plan to go out at night, so we don't want to be too isolated, and go to the beach to snorkel, sun etc. during the day.
All suggestions are appreciated!!
Many thanks!

Hello Aly,

It seems for what you want a place to stay on St. Thomas, go out at night, you'll be out during they day investigating the potentail of moving there and also out snorkeling and at the beach - well you could stay at one of the more inexpensive beach hotels or even one or the more mid-priced ones.... perhaps take a look at Emerald Beach or if you want to be closer to the East End where you can access the Red Hook ferry to St. John easily and also the nightlife in Red Hook then you might consider Secret Harbor or Sapphire. If the 6 of you don't might staying together then definately check out renting a villa or house. You might take a look at the ones offered at www.mclaughlinanderson.com

Good Luck on your planning.

Thank you so much for the tip Islander, what a great website, it's saved me hours of research! I wasn't aware there was much going on in Red Hook at night. I assumed Chalotte Amalie was the place to be. Good to know there's other good spots! I found Antilles Point Pleasant Resort. We took a sailing charter out of there on our visit, and it seemed like a very nice place. I read some horrible reviews online though, ever been there?

Many thanks!
