Hi y'all....
My husband is a musician, so whenever we go somewhere to visit, we like to check out local bands. Are there any good ones you'd recommend we see while in St. Thomas? We'll be there April 14-21. Particularly any percussion that is wonderful...my husband is a drummer, and I know he'd love to see some cool local percussionists! Thanks!
Check the "Live Action" section of the Island Trader. Some bands have standing play dates at some places and some play a different venue every week-end. You can contact the Daily News at 340-774-8772 X361 and they will mail you an Island Trader for $4.
Try this. Looks like they'll be at the Ritz 4/14/ and 4/21.
There are some drumming circles that meet sporadically on the beach, and they're open to anybody who wants to play percussion. Of course, it's not advertised, but I think if you call Ital Ase at 340-775-4825 they can tell you when/where somebody might be drumming. Do not call, however, if being around smoking Rastas makes you nervous!
Also, on Sun at The Beach Bar on St John, they have a jazz jam session from 4 - 7, and of course, there's a drummer. They usually allow guest musicians to jam.
