Best Spot: Underwater...(Haha!)

Best Boat: None is better than another, as whichever one you rent, you will have to tell them where you want to go, or rent one and captain it yourself, but you still need to know where to go. There are no lobster boats that I am aware of. Maybe some of the dive operations will put something together for you? Anyone know of anything that might help?

Having lived here for over 7 years, it's been my experience that no one like to share their 'spots'. I know that mine are a secret! Haha! But, in general, just go to the reefs where you don't see people and start lookin' for their antennae sticking out from under rocks and ledges. DON'T use a spear, as it is illegal. DON'T take females, as they are illegal. DON'T go into BVI waters, as it illegal. DON'T take small ones,as they are illegal. SCUBA gear makes it much easier than snorkeling for them, but if you can hold your breath for a miniute or so, you will be OK.

Good luck!

Boat rentals: Lots to choose from. But, your best bet may be Noah's Little Arks, right in Cruz Bay. Perfecvt little dinghy's to go buggin'.

I know who to see on STT for great rates on SCUBA rentals, but I've never rented on STJ. Anyone have any good advice??

Try Cruz Bay Watersports (www.divestjohn.com) - they rent both the gear and the dinghy.

Hello Kris,

No stamps or licenses required if its non-commercial. There are some guidelines:

Lobster is to be captured only by hand, snare or trap. Females with eggs must be returned to the sea. Lobsters must be landed whole.

Spiny Lobster
Size: 3.5 carapace
National Park waters: 2 per person per day NPS
Allowed area: Terr. waters, NPS, CFCZ

It is illegal to spear for lobsters in all territorial waters.
