I've booked the villa Livin' in St. John for a week in July. I've found a couple reviews but I was wondering if anyone could provide some additional insight. Does this villa stack up well against other villas on St. John? How is the privacy, (Keep the curtains closed, or no lines tanning on the deck). Can I get a taxi to it from a restaurant in Coral Bay if I don't feel like driving? Do I have a good view of the water from the deck?

Thanks for any help.

That sounds like the place. I booked through bookitvi.com (the Dove family). Is Carolina a place on the island?

Thats the place we rented. It's very nice. It is small but has everything you need, First, you will need a 4x4 to get to the villa. I'm sure they told you that already. The road and then the driveway are steep in spots and not paved. The neighborhood it is located in is Carolina over in Coral Bay. The villa is basically 3 rooms, a bedroom, combo livingroom and kitchen and then the bath. The deck is beautiful and private. Althought if you are in the pool au natural....be cafeful if the neighbors drive by! There is a very nice "dipping pool" and a hot tub. I began and ended each day in the hot tub. Leave the shampoo and conditioner and soap at home. They supply them with the villa. The view is incredible. You see the whole east end and over to the BVIs. The villa has A/C but you wont need it. You are so far up the hill that the sea breese rush up and right into the place, We actually had to close the sliders a bit each night so we wouldn't get blown away. There is a washer and dryer in a closet outside next to the door so dont pack too much. No more that a carry-on's worth! Just ask the owner to unlock the closet door for you before he leaves. Most of the time it's lock so the renters don't use too much water but if you ask, he'll open it for ya. Mid week, they have someone come in and clean up....very nice! The TV has satellite and wireless internet.....but leave the laptop at home. The villa has a nice selection of alcohol left behind by previous renters...we left a 1/2 bottle of rum last year. They also have a nice selection of reading material for you. I took that book "off the Beaten Path" everytime we left the villa. We were going to stay there again this year but the price went up a little and we just felt like saving some money on this years trip (June 2-10!!!). Let me know if you have any other questions.

We too are interested in this villa although we didn't realize the price had gone up. Could you comment on the bug/mosquito situation there? I'd seen a post on trip advisor that mentioned mosquitos in the bedroom. Just curious what your experience was?
Thank you,
Sussan

There were NO bugs when we were there. It's a little too windy up there for bugs. Last were we paid $1600 for 8 days. This year the price went up to $1750 for 7 days. We just felt that was a little too much considering we are out of the villa by 9AM and usually not back til 9PM. This year we decided to stay at the Windward Side Guest Cottage for about $1100. Still has a hottub and water view. Just looks a lot smaller. Please let us know if you need anymore info. Take Care!!!

Thanks so much for the info. We've always stayed on the Cruz Bay side so this would be a change for us and we're a little bit anxious.

Susan...you'll love...and be a convert. We always stay over in Coral. We like the peace and quiet over there. You'll love sitting in the hottub at night and looking at the lights on the east end and over in Tortola.

Thank you for all the information.

I was thinking of maybe doing a dinner sail or a nice dinner out at some point. I'm slightly concerned about getting back to the villa after having a drink or two though (I only drink on rare special occasions). Do you think its possible to get a taxi ride to/from the villa? It seems like it would be too far to walk to from coral bay.

I'll also take any advice you've got for romantic activities. I'm going for my honeymoon and looking to go above and beyond wherever I can.

Thanks again for your time.
