Does anyone keep a list of stuff to bring to STJ that they would care to share? We are down to 3 weeks and want to make sure that I thought of everything.

Thanks, this board has been great!

Sunscreen, and make sure you use it!
Money, I know you will use that!
If staying at a villa, bring any food, spices, etc. that may be fairly unique to your pallet and you may want on STJ. For example, Cajun spices were not readily available and we are hooked on them.

Oh yeah, bring all of your stress. You will leave it there, buried under some rock on a quiet beach where the beautiful waters roll over the white sand...

Dale,

Since you will be down there for so long, I assume you will not be eating out every night. I could be wrong but we go for a few weeks every year and we have a pretty refined list from doing it for so long.

Every year we revise it to make the most of our packing. Since clothing is of the casual nature, I can only tell you what I go by.

You do not need more then a few golf shirts, few t shirts, few bathing suits, and a couple pairs of shorts. No socks or sneakers at all. 1 hat, shirt to wear in the water. Camera withh plenty of memory

My family and I eat out about 1/2 the time for dinner but usually do breakfast and lunch "in".

The majority of our packing, beleive it or not is food. We are not rich so anything that we can bring eliminates the need to purchase it down there. ($$) We usually have the butcher freezer wrap any where from 10 - 15 lbs of steak, chicken, etc. My family is a bunch of carnivores so this is a necessity. These items stay frozen for the trip which is about 6 hours for us, NY. Having a number of frozen items in one box or suitcase is a bit cumbersome but we have found it is well worth it. Also many pounds of cold cuts will last us about 5 days worth of lunches.

The next few items are things that we have found convenient to bring. Keep in mind we have two young children. Ice tea mix, peanut butter, crackers, spices, Mac n cheese, cereal, ketchup, mustard, tube potato chips, cheese, pepperoni, micro popcorn, laundry detergent, sugar cubes, nalgene bottles. These are some of the items we bring to eliminate and defray some of the cost down there. We do support the grocery stores as well with our alcohol, replenished supply of items, and they do just fine. These are just some of the items that we have found that we can bring that help us every year.

We usually travel with 4 adults and two children.

Hope this helps

Dale--add binoculars to your list. and if you are staying at a villa (or anyplace you can control the lights), star charts. you can print free charts from skymaps.com depending on the dates of your visit, you might also watch for the Lyrid meteor shower April 20-22. the vi are GREAT for star/meteor watching.
also, if you are staying at a villa, many of the condiments + tea/coffee/water may already be there. best to wait and see what's there before stocking up at grocery.

Brady,

Thanks for the tips. We plan on bringing non-perishable snack foods, cereals, etc. We tried freezing meat for our trip to the Bahamas a few years ago and stuff didn't stay frozen. We are talking almost 24 hours from the time we leave home til we arrive at our villa. And luckily my sister-in-law will be there a few days before us so she can tell us whats already there.
I can't believe we are down to 3 weeks!

Add a couple of light cotton long sleeves and some lounge pants for the evening, makes you comfy. nice hat for the day.

consider a dry snorkel and as always, a rashguard is highly recommended by yours truly.

bring good company!
