First organized Lionfish search in St Thomas didn't turn up any of the fish. Everyone should keep their eyes open for them while diving.
They have been found and caught around St John 🙁
Pia
I had heard that but the results of an organized search dive did not turn up any lionfish in St Thomas (from what I was told)
Here is the article re: St John ..............

I have not idea re: St Thomas, sorry

Several found and captured on STX.
According to this recent article, lionfish have been found at Stumpy on STT and Hans Lollick off STT:

Hopefully the Department of Fish and Wildlife will make available posters (as they apparently have done on STX) for distribution to dive shops, resorts, restaurants and general retailers throughout the territory so that both locals and visitors become familiar with their unique physical attributes and can immediately report any sightings. Apparently they make good eating fish but obviously I'd hate to see so many of them here that they become a regular item on any local restaurant menu!
Great poster - with a STX 'phone number. Hello, DPNR, how about getting this out on ALL our islands with the relevant contact numbers?
For those of you on Facebook with an interest here is some more info on the LionFish Response.

Ironically enough I saw messages elsewhere (external to vinow.com) about restaurants in the Bahamas serving lionfish!
All may not be lost in the fight to rid the Caribbean of Lionfish. Mother Nature may do it herself. Check out this article.
I saw that photo and article regarding the grouper eating the lionfish earlier. Hopefully it is a good sign and the group did not suffer any adverse effects and continues to eat the little buggers.
For every one we find there are probably another 1000 out there.
