Good morning!

Does anyone know anything about this charter boat? We've used New Horizons in the past and had a blast, but I was trying to find something that was a bit less expensive, since we are splurging for our guests........and Lion in Da Sun seems to have better rates, a fun itinerary and a nice Catamaran. Any feedback would be great......

Went with Josh on Lion in Da Sun in early November. Would DEFINATELY go again. Josh was a great host for the day and having a private boat/captain allows you all the flexibility/freedom you need to customize your day for what YOU like. Josh has some great places to take you and some great stories to tell (part history, part entertainment). He'll also take you exactly where you tell him if you have a specific site you want to see.

I assure you, you'll be thrilled with your day with this group!

Good Luck! Have Fun!

I called them for a trip, but they were booked. If I recall correctly, they were $490 for the day plus gas.

Cheers, RickG

Yep,
Great guys both of them Matt and Josh. They recently added a second boat. You won't be disappointed.

I believe they are licensed for 6 passengers plus captain. 6 people works great.

Will be using Lion in da Sun for the second time in May, and I would highly recommend this charter. Josh is a great captain and Matt was very helpful and thorough with all of the specifics from booking to where to go, etc. We cannot wait to get back out on the water with these guys. Our day trip with Lion in da Sun was by far the highlight of our previous trip to the USVI.

Josh vists this board frequently. Hey Josh! Did Matt get his license? Did you get the new boat you were hoping for? We're coming down next February, and as soon as we get the dates secure, will be contacting you for a day on the seas!

Great day out visiting islands (the snorkeling spot he picked was absolutely the BEST EVER!) and can't wait to do it again!

Good Luck! Have Fun!

VI Lover,

Matt got his License in September and has been filling in for me when I can't do 8 or 10 trips in a row. Actually today he is out and I have the day off! We did get a second boat and it went in the water the last week of January. We haven't put new pics on our website yet but it is a really nice boat, a 28 foot Scout 280SF. You can see the new model ones at www.scoutboats.com, ours is a 2003. . . actually there is an article on On-StJohn.com about it from a couple days ago.

Just so everyone doesn't think working in the islands is all fun and games - Matt is giving me the day off by driving the boat today but this morning I did laundry, I fixed a broken boat speaker and am currently taking apart our 5hp dinghy engine to clean the carbs out and get it working again. Should I get done before 3pm and actually put the dinghy back in the water I am thinking of heading to the beach with it (Solomon most likely) but I will probably take a nap. Nice day off right?

-Josh

Josh, this morning I took my Mother to probably her 100th doctor appointment in the last year. A short trip online and then I'm up in our attic taking off 100 year old wallpaper. Then I'll spackel to get the walls ready for some paint. Daughter is moving up there. I have about 50 boxes to go through. Give to charity or throw out. Then a trip to Home Depot for paint. In between that I'll get something ready for dinner and clean up around the house. No nap for me, PLUS it's 16 degrees here.

Nice day off for me too huh?

I'd rather be in paradise and if you ever need any help, let me know.

Connie - you are TOO funny!

Josh - congratulations on the new boat. I know you and Matt have worked really hard (and really smart!) to build your business. I sincerely hope the best for you guys.

VI...all I meant was we all have hectic lives, everybody has their own daily struggles and I can understand what Lion is saying, but I guess I was just really cold at the moment I read his post.

Three more months and then we're down again. This time I may not come home. Sherri have room??

My Wife and 6 & 8 year old just spent a day with Matt on the Cat. We had a great day and I would highly suggest it.

I hope to make another day of it next year.

Hi all,

We have 8 people in our group coming down April 24 through May 1. I understand they have two boats or can we squeeze 8 people in? How far in advance should reservations be made? Thanks for all the help!

Hey now,Redhead57-Mahojim here again. Last year we took a sunset sail with Motoryacht Cinnamon Bay, and it was perfect! Not sure what the Lion in da Sun is like personally, but kudos to Capt.Dan on M.Y.C.B. Check out the photo album on their website,as I proposed to my Amy, and she said yes! We're planning a trip again this to Jost this year, should be great!-

Hey Mahojim,

Thanks for referring my Cinnamon Bay. I spoke with Captain Dan today and I think we're going to be able to put something together.......what a classic boat! Thanks so much!

Hey now, redhead 57! We're t-minus 32 days! Captain Dan, and his vessel, is just a class act from top to bottom. It's hard to explain to someone who has never been to STJ., but I've never been so excited to go somewhere to become catatonic, ya' know? Did you see Amy & I in the photo album?(on M.Y.C.B.'s website-) I'm thinking about chartering his "travel day" excursion, as well. Hope all is well,- looking forward to meeting you, and the hubby!
I can almost smell the bay trees, already.....
