I am curious as to whether the Megan's Bay Authority has taken over Lindquist as far as collecting an entry fee, etc.? It is such a beautiful spot, I hate to see it become crowded and over commercialized.

The Magens Bay Authority has done a very good job so far in cleaning up Lindqvist. The entry road has been moved up the road a little bit, everything is open and cleared and the entry fee is $2. The beach is well maintained, dumpsters, lifeguards and security personnel are on site, there are temporary toilet facilities and more improvements are planned for the future. The MBA has proven its capabilities in maintaining Magens and I've no doubt will maintain the integrity of this lovely spot too. Cheers!

The alternative to overcrowded and commercialized, before the VI Govt was able to acquire the land from private developers, was private luxury villas and at best very restricted access, if any ! , by land. The MBA has taken a very low key but responsible management policy - somewhat controlled by budgetary considerations, they have been self sufficient financially for quite awhile at
Magens.

Every time I've gone to do a wedding, it's been pretty quiet as well! NO crowds! (tu)

That is good to hear. Last summer there was a sign that said there was an admission fee, but no one was ever there to collect it. I know that Aubrey is very proud of the work that has been done there. Can't wait to see it when I arrive in June.

I was there yesterday. $2/person to get in, money collector and VIPD at the gate. Wear your sandals in the parking lot, lots of glass bits scattered around

I see Deb got your message already!
Hey, did you post this notice on the relocation board? I didn't notice it.

Presently the charge is only $2 per person when they are there collecting.

dville: just a late-night note from an oldster checking in. It's Magens and no apostrophe. The Magens Danish family originally settled on St Croix and then came to St Thomas where they purchased a large tract which eventually came to be known as the Magens Estate and to this day is known as Magens Bay.

The MBA is self sufficient where funding is concerned, as in that authority has never asked for local government funding but solely relies on entry fees and private endowments and contributions. They are a total breath of fresh air, all in all. Cheers!
