Been to the VI many times but for once I thought I would try somewhere down there that is more foreign to an American.
Went to the BVI several times but came upon only a couple of folks who even had an English accent. Anyone have any advice. St Marteen??? Any ideas?
Thanks.
if it is the absence of the sound of the English language - try Martinique or Guadaloupe or Marie Galante
If it is a very caribbean flavour you are looking for - try Dominica or St Vincent
both Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic have a very different culture to be part of away from the tourist areas
We really enjoyed our vacation on St. Martin/Maarten(sp?).
All the islands are a bit different.
I love Dominica.
I really enjoyed Costa Rica as well.
St. Martin/Maarten (sp depends on which side you're on) is okay but St. Barth's while pricey is lovely as are Grenada, the Grenadines, St. Vincent, Antigua and Barbados and all have a different flavor to them.
We loved St Maarten!
St. Barts is great!
Puerto Rico has everything the VI has to offer, but way more in terms of culture and choices of restaurants, hotels, and adventure. It's also enormously cheaper in almost (if not every) aspect.
My favorite of all times is Virgin Gorda- BVI
