We will be staying at cottages by the sea (in STX) and now that airlines are charging per bag we are interested in knowing about laundry mats. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cottages has a washing machine for guests that operates on quarters. The nearest laundromat with dryers is at Amigos Gas Station on Centerline Road, about 5 minutes away from cottages. They offer a drop off service with your clothes ready the next day (perhaps same day if you drop off early and the lady isn't too busy). For a weeks worth of clothes this would probably run about $15-20. You could also do it yourself there for cheaper but I wouldn't want to spend any of my vacation sitting in a laundromat for 3 hours watching my clothes. Either do it yourself at cottages and hang stuff up to dry on your balcony or in the room, or just pack light in carry-ons.
