We will be staying on St. John later this month and are considering a trip to BVI but in looking at the ferry schedule it looks like 3:45 may be about the latest ferry back to STT, is this correct? Does anyone know of an evening ferry leaving BVI?
Also, the online weather reports for St. John are showing a lot of rain . . . does that mean rain all day or just thunder -storm related showers? (I know its impossible to predict what hurricane Emily might do). We will be on the island 8/14 to 8/20 . . .are we going to see much of that beautiful blue caribbean sky?
You can check the BVI/STJ ferry schedules on this site, top right, "Ferry Schedule" under Quick Links.
Don't pay attention to online weather sites. They predict anywhere between 20 and 50% chance of rain every day of the year unless we're in the path of a tropical storm or hurricane. Emily will be long gone by the time you get here. These storms pass very quickly. Stock up on the sunscreen.
You have to clear Customs upon your return to the USVI so that is why the ferry leaves Jost at 3pm on Fri, Sat and Sun and 4pm on Mon, Tues and Wed (no ferry on Thursday) but these can change at a blink of an eye so do check when you are here.
