St. Thomas charmed all six of us. So much so we will be back next year and rent two floors at the Elysian. Nancys condos features three unit whole floor rentals with two separate bedrooms and a full kitchen and living room for exceptionally great prices St-Thomas-condos.com Nancy thank you for beautiful and functional accommodations.

Hands down we all agreed best restaurant we tried was in Charlotte Amalie, Tavern on the waterfront .. Ate there three times! go on Tuesday and enjoy a 12 oz lobster tail which usually sells for $51 for $22. Pesce in Red Hook is great. Coco Blue, not so much. Definitely give FishTails by the parking lot at the ferry a try. Sapphire Beach was okay .. SideShow Bob is ... Different. A/k/a Thor. Hint: pick up some chicken, fruit, cheese bread and lunchmeat and save yourself the 14.00 Hamburgers that sent my stomach south for 24 hours. Trunk Bay on St. John was amazing but Cinnamon Bay a mile further down the road is a better stop. But best of all was hanging out in our own private beach at the Elysian.

I also have to say that the culture landscape and structures on St. Thomas present a different glimpse of a lifestyle that seems so at peace with itself. Can't go wrong spending your vacation here.

Ate last night at the Cellar, also owned by same owners as and located next door to Pesce. That at least ties in greatness with Tavern on the Waterfront and may actually surpass it. You HAVE to try the Scallops appetizer -- amazing, Yum Yum. Miss St. Thomas already. Next year we want to try the day boat trip that starts you off with breakfast and also serves lunch and dinner, makes 4 stops at the Baths, Pussers, and 2 other places -- anyone know who does that trip best?

Yacht Elixir in Sapphire Marina would be a good choice for that trip - a very comfortable 60' Hatteras MY with very professional crew.

No idea how much it would cost - I suggested it because - the trip would have to be on a power vessel and it would have to be of the size to prepare and serve 3 meals and be comfortable - since their daily trip usually includes breakfast and lunch already and they do offer a dinner trip by appointment maybe it could be possible to extend a daysail to include dinner - it would certainly be a long day both for distance covered and time aboard and priced accordingly. The vessel does have a website.

That one is a little out of our price range. I saw a website of one more within our budget, New Horizons II -- http://www.newhorizonscharters.com/
If anyone has or does check this out, I would really appreciate a review!

New Horizons II is an entirely different trip since it is a multi-passenger vessel and will possibly have a boatload of people aboard. It does a good job but does not fit your criteria of breakfast and dinner and 4 stops along the way, --- you buy your lunch ashore - the price PP reflects that.

Hmm, all good points. Any other suggestions? I mean, we don't mind sharing with other passengers. But we cannot pay $400 or more per person either for this trip. Not to say it's not worth it; I'm sure it is worth every penny. But you can only do what you can do, you know? Help?

Ruby,
We are going in September and renting a boat for 8 hours with Mitch at Waters Edge. He has anywhere from Luxury Yachts to Power Boats. The price does not include food or drink, but he will take you wherever you want to go. I think after rental, fuel and oil, and the captain, it is going to run the 4 of us $700 total. The nice thing is you don't have to pay per person and he will take you wherever you want to go. We are planning to depart from St. Thomas and go to The BVI Baths, Soggy Dollar Bar, and stop to snorkel. Also, very cool, they have tubes and stuff for you to ride on behind the boat if you want to play around. I can't say enough nice things about Mitch. He has been so helpful to us. I am sure he could accommodate all of the places you would like to stop at and as far as food and dining, you can always bring your breakfast then stop for lunch and dinner. It's fun to hit all the little local spots!! Good luck!

Chartering an Uninspected Vessel - [one that does not have a COI from the USCG] - with more than 6 passengers aboard - is a risk situation called Demise Charter - the responsible cardholder must assume all responsibility for any damage - a USCG Licensed Captain cannot operate the vessel under their license and must be considered a 'Guide' - and if there is an accident or injury aboard must deny any responsibility and they cannot sign the Customs and Immigration forms as Master of Vessel.
I strongly suggest you contact the USCG Marine Safety Division here in STT at 340-776-3497 - Fax 340-774-1687 or even our local USCG Auxiliary at 340- 714-2851 to find out the legal ramifications of having more than 6 passengers aboard an Un-Inspected Vessel and the responsibilities assumed by the charter and the "USCG Licensed Captain".

Rent from Awesome and hire a Captain - most affordable if you want your own boat, flat fee for the day and the captain but if you are going to Virgin Gorda, fuel will definitely set you back!

this is who we use regularly living here

We will have 8 adults. Any suggestions on a day trip boat with multiple stops that can hold all of us?

Sure, email me. But I have only been there for an extended stay just that once in August -- we just got around a lot in that week. I will say we are going back next July for 10 days and I can't wait. Something about that place draws me back ...

It's not a good idea to post your email address on an open forum but to use the PM (private message) feature on this site (next to the poster's name). When you send a PM the board administrators advise the recipient by email that a message is awaiting them on the forum and that information will also be displayed on the "welcome" bar top of the page where it says, "Private Messages".

Look at Magic Moments and Dragonius Marinus. Luxury charters aren't cheap here...for a separate idea, think about stopping at Jost, Tortola, and Willy T for food...will make it easier to plan that way I'd think but Magic Moments does great on the 'full service' tip.
