We are planning to stay at the Ritz and are undecided whether to take the Ritz's catamaran sail or for the 3 of us to book privately on a boat that takes only 6 passengers (either the Winifred or Jester). Does the Ritz sail excursion leave from the hotel property? Is there any real difference in food or ambiance of the boat as compared to the private charters? The private sails are $110-120 per person. How does this compare to the Lady Lynsey? Does it feel too impersonal or crowded? Are we better off just doing a sunset sail and then doing St. John on our own during the day(we have done this by ferry/taxi last year). Thanks for your help-this board has been great.

Hello Marie,

While I think their boat can take up to 45 or so people they don't usually go out with their max but you will certainly be with other couples and groups while a 6 pack you could have the boat all to yourselves. The Lady Lynsey does leave right from Ritz. They have different excursions; a sunset, a snorkeling, a St. John full day and a half day. $75 for the sunset and $140 for the St. John trip which includes buffet lunch at Caneel Bay and a few hours to shop in Cruz Bay. Their snorkeling trip is $85 and I am not sure how many hours it last.
