Is the Kon Tiki party raft all of what I have heard? Is it available to people not on a cruise ship? If I have the chance should I go? Are there better booze cruises? Any at night for sunset?
Dan
Hello Dan,
Kon Tiki is fun if thats what you are looking for, a booze cruise all the way. It usually goes over to Honeymoon on Water Island for swimming... otherwise you are floating around St. Thomas harbor and Water Island area drinking the free flowing rum punch and dancing... I have been at Honeymoon Beach when they pulled in and the people are usually hooting and hollering and having a good time. There are sunset charters... go out for a couple hours. Y ou can call (340) 775-5055 phone and see about if you can book although not on the cruise ship and how much.
As for whether you should go - are you alone or with a family? What are you looking for? If you are with a family you might want to do a private charter where you can sail for the whole day to St. John or the BVIs and enjoy things at your leisure and the way you want it, drinks are available on those also. But if you want a party scene then this is it.

Dan -
The afternoon of our morning wedding, we were on the tender to return to ship (S/S Norway). The KonTiki was returning from the day, and was right next to our tender. There were several girls lifting their tops to show the passengers on the tender. I jokingly remind my husband that he really had a good wedding day - even before we returned to our cabin on the ship!! Of course, this was during Spring Break, so lots of college girls from the cruise ships taking advantage of the age 18 drinking age. From my perception, it was definitely a booze cruise.
