Sometimes i really don't know what to say:

Maybe "once I was young and stupid, too".

It's almost as bad as what the developers of Sirenusa, Grande Bay and all the other concrete monstrosities have done to the hills of StJ.

Agreed. At least the paint can be removed. I don't agree with either action but I guess the definition of what is "legal" runs parallel to the Golden Rule.

He who has the Gold writes the Rules.

MG---

I appreciate your kindness in believing that I was never that stupid, but I must disclose that there were times early in my life when I apparently was quite stupid and did a few very stupid things. I'm trying to work off some of the karma accumulated earlier in life.

The "concrete monstrosity' that I find most offensive is that big honker of a place in the hills above Haulover. We went to Haulover a couple of times on our first trip to STJ (this was in the mid-80s). It was great snorkeling and i also really loved that there was nothing man-made to be seen. The view of STJ from the water was the same as it would have been hundreds of years ago. Nothing in sight---no buildings, no roads. On one trip after not having been to the island for several years, we went to Haulover and there was this villa sitting up there. Some big, extravagant thing, not some tasteful West indian cottage that could have blended into the hills. It seemed like desecration. And, yes, now there's Sirenusa.

But i need to stop my whining. I did recently come upon a short video from Haulover:

Just trying to work off some of my earlier karmic debt.

Lex,
"Just trying to work off some of my earlier karmic debt."

just like Earl?? crossing things off your list? funny!

Well, as I've only had one day of my life on STJ, I can't comment too much, but the day I spent on Jost really left an impression on me, and I would be sickened if the same thing happened to that island. White bay was the most beautiful placed I've seen. someone posted on here that Sydney's on Jost is for sale for 7million dollars! If it gets sold, I hope they don't change anything. If i could just win that powerball.

Some current developers in St. John will never get their karma back not sure they ever had it!
Erecting monuments of conspicuous consumption in a Italian/Mediterranean–style that are totally out of character with St. John.

Sorry to hear about the Knuckleheads, I hope the fear of heavy fines and jail time will keep them at bay. Although drunk teenagers are hard to control. (I think I was one once?)

Also, Lex thanks for the youtube link. I loved watching the show.

Hi to all,
I am really sickened by graffiti anywhere. Especially on something historic or in nature.
These are the kind of folks who write on bathroom walls in my opinion.
The idiots are everywhere. I keep thinking nothing will surprise me anymore, but then, something like this happens and my reactions to it are the same.
Why would anyone think any of us would care to look upon their imbicile creations with anything but disgust.
As far as developers and others building monuments of obsurdity, they are in the same boat with the taggers as far I am concerned.

I'm just wondering about something and I'm sure somebody can clear this up for us.

When we were leaving on the car ferry, there was really big construction going on just to the right up the hill. Is this what everybody is talking about?

Exactly what is it supposed to be??

I think this is what we all cringe at from the Car Ferry....
