Okay, I'll say in advance that I'm embarrased to post this but what the heck, i'm among friends!!!

I'm a Kenny Chesney fan and saw him in concert recently and while I was looking at some recent pictures that were posted on this sight the song about the "Old Blue Chair" of his came on my ITunes and so I'm wondering... have any of you ever seen him while vacationing there or know any interesting tid bits of his living there? Just random thinking on my part, but I do love how he describes the feeling of being on St. John in that song and mentions Cinnamon Bay and it added so much to looking at the pictures! I think at least one of his albums was written in great part while he was there. Anyone know anything that will fuel my interest?

Andrea...Woody's is in STJ and it's an easy walk from the ferry dock. That is not the dock that Disney would use, which would be in STT.

I'm not sure how long Kenny is on tour, but you may want to check it out. You may also want to read this whole thread from the beginning to get an idea of how people on this board feel about Kenny. Some pretty funny posts in there too.

I just noticed that this thread has over 9,000 hits. Can we make it 10,000 like the Phillies just did? :o)

Mr. Chesney has a website. www.kennychesney.com

PLEASE send your 9000 or 10,000 comments to him, along with requests for concerts on St. John or Boise or on the moon. While I am sure he will be thrilled to hear from his numerous rabid fans, this REALLY is not the forum to gather support for a concert....put it under his nose where he and his managers can see it.

This is a vacation thread. It is not a concert thread. It is not a fan thread, other than fans of the USVI. There's probably some important information and questions that are getting bumped to the 10th page from inane comments.

Ask Mr. Chesney to come to St. John and turn out in force. Ask him to bring his current girlfriend, his cat, Payton Manning, or Jimmy Buffett with him....ask him to do anything, but please ask him where it counts.

Thank you - thanks so much.

Becky, I really think that is on the way to being rude and condescending. And I want to say that if folks here want to talk about KC, then it is related to the VI, because he lives there, or his songs make people think of the VI, etc. Sometimes people want to post about things that remind them of the VI, not just their trip reports or how many bushwackers you can drink. It's still all related to the VI.

I'm done with this, because while I thought some of us were having fun, it's gotten to be where people are being snarky, and that's not why I come to this board.

Becky, seriously if you don't like the thread, then just pass over it. There are ALOT of different threads here that could be considered off topic, but that doesn't mean that they don't interest some people.

I looked at rules and regs on this board and there isn't anything "illegal" about KC threads. All it says is that off topic threads that "negatively" affect the Board are not allowed. Alot of people have had some fun with this thread, maybe not you, but some have. The whole t-shirt thing was hilarious.

Also, rules and regs say that you're suppose to welcome new members. Well....i'll have to say if new members read some of these posts on this thread, they're going to get the wrong idea.

Islander??? Is there a problem with this thread??

KC does NOT live here. He is an infrequent visitor who owned a home here and may or may not be building another home depending on which gossip you hear. Glad you're "done with it" Gari Ann, but Connie may be disappointed...

One more thing...

KC does NOT live here. He is an infrequent visitor who owned a home here

Semantics. I think you know what I meant.

I just don't understand the negativity at this board. I've always been friendly to folks, but I think some like to pick apart things, and that's just not my idea of a fun board.

And I thought you meant it, Gari Ann, when you said you were "done with this" but I guess that's another semantic variation.

I think it's all to do with the old adage, "enough is enough" and little do with anyone having "fun." Judging from the fact that this thread almost faded out until someone (possibly inadvertently) brought it to the forefront again, one might just assume that the majority finds it tedious. However, I really do think that Connie and GariAnn can, with due diligence, ensure it hits the 10K mark. I am now "done with it" and am quite good at keeping my word. Cheers!

Kenny does own a home in St John. He sold another one he owned. He had a total of three houses. He frequently returns. No rumor, fact. You guys are rekindling the hatred for this thread, don't know why.

Okay - Gari Ann and Connie, I am sorry if I am condescending, rude, outta line, or whatever you want to call it. I can call at least 10 people off the top of my head who are stroking out because this continues to go on and on - and yeah, baby, it's talked about.....

This is a vacation board. For the USVI. I've been around for a few years - if I came to this board today and THIS is what greeted me, I would return to my nice Google engine and continue to search on REAL information for my vacation, not to see who is hot for KC. The t-shirt thread was cute 6 pages ago....now we're out to break a record on how many times something like, "wow, that's great" can be counted as a post about Kenny? I think his managers would love it - I think others of us are choking on it. Yes, I CAN skip over it....but this is the thread that won't die and there is no purpose to it. If ya'll are enjoying it so much, take it private. That's why God/Islander made PMs. This is rapidly falling under the heading of a "bump post", which I believe the rules state are specifically forbidden.

Unfortunately, this thread will continue to resurrect itself everytime someone sees a short man in a cowbody hat anywhere in the Caribbean and has absolutely NOTHING to do with vacationing in the VI unless you are coming to a KC and his sunshine band concert...at last press, there is no such thing in the works, but there might be if you all banded together and approached his booking staff or whatever or whoever.

In the meantime, leave the lines open for people who want to vacation in the islands to ask sensible questions and perhaps receive sensible answers. Some good questions have been asked in the past couple of days - unfortunately, they are lost under a pile of iguana guano.

And yeah, Gari Ann - as a VACATION board this SHOULD be about people's trip reports....somehow I don't think ole KC's message board would be too happy if you filled up 13 pages on crime or education in the USVI...and why would that be? Because his board is for people to pant over, not for facts. Flip the coin and you've got the picture.

Becky & STT,
Thanks for keeping the thread alive LOL. I am a Kenny fan ( August 26 I get my next live fix) but wasn't going to comment on the thread, but when you guys got so bent out of shape I couldn't resist. Where's the love guys? It is only a thread, lets play nice. I will be sure to post concert pics in August to bump it up Just kidding Becky, relax.

Bravo! His music brings a sense of peace and fond memories to our usually hectic professional lives living in the states. Those songs of the islands have brought many people to come to know and love USVI as we do..........we wait to each time we can return and Kenny Chesney's "Be As You Are" songs gives us that sense of "away from it all" peaceful feeling that we get only in the islands. He is a wonderful artist and gives insight into himself which is often rare in that profession.

Bottom line.................if you aren't into Kenny Chesney, if you don't want to read the thread then skip it. There's plenty of us out there that enjoy the conversation and what to chat. Don't be rude, disrespectful, or negative just because you don't care for Kenny, ignore the thread and move on! What's with those that linger and put there two cents in just to get a rise out of others, go somewhere else and be rude! Nobody said you had to respond or read the thread about Kenny!

I happen to come along to this thread and was not going to comment. " BUT", I felt it was unfair to those whom have come to love the islands and have a dream to visit "BECAUSE" they happen to listen to Mr. Chesney.

I certainly believe he has given the VI some extra publicity through his music and his own personal love of the islands. It is a Positive influence!.

In all honesty, this is no different than many people visitng Mickey Mouse in Flordia,California,Japan or France, or seeing Jim Morrison's grave in Paris, doing the Harry Potter tour in England and I could go on.

Keep on posting people- it's adorable. Just the narrow minds and narrow ways make it ugly.

P.S. I would ALSO hate being called a Bunny. I am not Young but a mature older women(almost 50) who is well educated .
I have found that sexist men degrade women by calling them cute little NO Brains names(Those days are over by the way unless you Do NOT respect women). That does not GO in the Professional world believe me or a guy would be sued!

I had to respond. I am not famous but I live an upper class lifestyle and I sure can understand wanting my privacy!

Business is Business and your Personal Life is PERSONAL.-neither are one in the same! You put a certain face on for Business and then when your on YOUR Own Time you can let you hair down(if there is any) and just be Normal!

I live near a tourist area and hate people thinking they can walk on my property(oops they are Tourist and are lost),pull in my driveway(to look at my nice house) or just drive by to see what I am doing(the local gossip hounds). You do not have to be famous to deal with that! I can understand this mans wish for privacy. No one can understand unless you've dealt with it.

By the way just because people paid money to see KC in concert or bought his Cd's does not give them the Privilege of thinking they have Free Reign to him and his personal life. It is up to him if he wants to open that door if he is out socially but the odds are slim.

Most people who love the Islands don't feel too sorry for celebrities, but I hope that Kenny can come home and enjoy himself without too much fanfare. Maybe you can find a way to blend in. It's so much fun! I would hate to come to the VI's and not be able to be myself.

Connie:

Sounds like you had a great time.. I got front row for Kenny's Concert this Friday in Pa. Anyone going?

I know from last year(2nd row in Chula Vista,Ca) how the girls rush up(okay I was not prepared for the pushing and screaming)..

But I noticed one of KC workers seating in the row behind me with a girl(she acted to be this guys girl with all the hugging ) I was courious if KC has his people fill in seats not used or given out in promotions by the artist. Anyway I noticed them going through security and standing then up front by the the stage for most of the concert. Kind of thought that was not fair to the fans(but maybe he was playing body guard -who knows).

So this year I am prepared to hold my ground and secure my area! Maybe I should dress as one Big Flip Flop!

Do you think they would take me away! LOL
