I am lookig to go to JVD for a day excursion from STT. Which is better--newhorizions or breakaway? Or if there are any others that might be compariable. Also looking to rent a jeep while on STJ----any companies better than the other.

Any info would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Same company -- New Horizons II is a smaller boat- they are currently replacing it with Breakaway II --same hull as #1

I haven't been on either Horizons or Breakaway, but I did do a trip on Limnos Charters (www.limnoscharter.com) a few weeks ago and loved it. I definitely recommend them!

Both of those boats will get you to Jost, but your visit will be for only an hour or two. They are full day charters which start out at Virgin Gorda then hit a couple of smaller islands on their way back to St. Thomas/St. John. If you'd like to spend more time on Jost, I suggest the passenger ferry. I do believe ferry service is available only on the weekends though. Maybe someone can fill in a little more info.

I agree wit bippy.

If you are primarily interested in JVD, and can be flexible with your schedule, take the weekend ferry over. You'll get there around 9:30am and can stay until almost 3pm.

We've done the New Horizons trip 3 times (with 3 different vacation guests) and have really enjoyed it each time. But - when we want to enjoy JVD, we take the public ferry. No frills, but it's only about a third the cost of the NH trip per person and you can use the savings to buy souveniers - and PAINKILLERS at Soggy Dollar!

Good Luck! Have Fun!

I booked a trip with Scubadu in June, we had a group of 6 and had the boat to ourselves; not sure how many will be in your party.....
