My boryfriend and I recently returned from 11 days in St. Croix. We had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Divi Resort. The resort was very basic but met our needs. Our room was located on the second floor overlooking the beach. The beach at the Divi was somewhat disappointing. It had a lot of seagrass and half of the beach chairs were broken. You definiely need a rental car in St. Croix and especially at the Divi. We did a lot of exploting while on the island. While on St. Croix, we visited some other beaches...Shoy beach, Isaac Bay, and Jack Bay. Isaac and Jack require about a 20 minute hike to reach them. They were all nice. My boyfriend did 8 dives while we were there. There was some problems with visability during several of his dives.

Christensted was a nice little town. I did a little shopping there. Of course, I had to get the hook bracelet from Sonyas. We had some good meals while on the island. Some of the places we ate at were Tutu Benes, Cheeseburgers, Rum Runners, Luncheria, STX Brewing Co, and Duggans. I can't say we ever had a bad meal.

We also flew on Seabourne to STT and then took the ferry to St. John. I was somewhat disappointed with St. John. The beaches are beautiful there but the island seemed somewhat run down. Roads were in poor condition....potholes everywhere. We rented a jeep in STJ so we could explore the island. We had a 2 bedroom villa at the Westin St. John. The villa was gorgous...more than we could have asked for. We had dinner at the Fish Trap....very good food but a little pricey. We took the ferry back to STT and got out of there as quickly as possible. We were not impressed with St. Thomas...way tooooo crowded! We took Seabourne back to St. Croix. Overall, we liked St. Croix the best. STX had everything to offer and more. St. Croix is definitely somwhere I would like to visit again in the future.

Deb,

Thank you for your trip report about St. Croix--- sounds like you two had a great time! We were there last spring after an absence of 29 yearsand loved it so much that we are planning another trip back in February (fingers crossed!) I wish we had gone down to Isaac and Jack's beaches on this trip like you did. I remember them to be georgous from when I last visited the island in the 70's. We ate at the same places you did and really enjoyed them. Missed the Luncheria because we live in Texas and get Mexican food here all the time--- but after reading so many people recommend it here on this message board we're planning to try it if we get to go back.
Also, it was so nice to have someone else come out and say they prefer St Croix to the other two islands! I've always been partial to St Croix... Glad you had fun!

So darn glad you enjoyed your trip to STX. It is indeed, IMNSHO, the best the USVI has to offer. However, I have to say that STJ has its own fantastic charm. St. John requries a special state of mind and once you're there you'll really enjoy all STJ has to offer. Meanwhile, we'd love to have you and your boyfriend back to the Big Virgin. I completely concur with your comments about St. Thomas....I know I'm going to get blasted here pretty soon though [;-))!
