We just got back last sunday and loved St. John. Something happenned to me there - some sort of inner peace and sense of belonging. My wife and I have visited many caribbean islands, but there was something about the island, its people, that made me feel at home. The beaches, simply put, AWESOME! We can't wait to return.
One question, though. On Maho Beach, on the left side where the Palm trees are, there is an old vacant building. Was that a restaurant / bar at one time? Can anyone provide info on this place? Thanks to this board and the lovely island of St. John.
take care,
mike
Hello Mike,
It's always looked like its in poor condition, as far as I can remember, but I know I have read that its a pavillion with restrooms that can be rented from the National Park.
Anyone have better information on the building on Maho Bay, St. John.

I called the National Park Visitor's Center :). It was a pavillion with restrooms that people could rent but it isn't servicable right now. The gal there said it was always a pavillion and wasn't a house or anything prior; that the park built it for use as a pavillion.
