I am trying to set up arrangements to get married in St. Thomas in July, 2003. I was going to book Point Pleasant, but thankfully I found this message board and I haven't found anything good about them. Does anybody have an opinion as to whether it's better to hire a coordinator like Forever Weddings or Weddings the Island Way (or which is better); or should I just stay with a hotel that does the planning in-house, such as Secret Harbour? Also, which is better for their money: Secret Harbour, Beachcomber Hotel, Sapphire Beach, or Pavillion & Pools? My fiance and I want a view, but yet we are more active, so total seclusion isn't necessary. Can you tell that I'm not very good with making decisions and that I've never done this before??? Any help from past wedding"ers" would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!

My wife and I honeymooned at Pavilions and Pools and loved the privacy and the great view of St. John. There is no night life on site but we aren't into much of the night life especially on our honeymoon. But if we had been there is plenty nearby which would have been easy to get to as we had a vehicle.

My personal bias would send me to Secret Harbour with its beachfront units, excellent restaurant, lovely beach and quiet friendly setting. Pam, who is Caribbean Occasions (www.caribbeanoccasions.com), does an excellent job with weddings there also but she doesn't limit herself to Secret Harbour. The views from Sapphire are great down island ones and the beach there is one of the prettier ones on the island but it is a family-friendly resort so not sure if the holiday time will present more kids and people or not. I wouldn't choose Beachcomber only because of its location adjacent to the airport but it is a nice beach and Pavilion and Pools is a great choice but there is no beach. Just a 5-minute walk to Sapphires but still for a wedding/honeymoon setting, it wouldn't be my choice. Others enjoy the private pool and setting.

I'm getting married in March on St John and am using Stacy Mulcare (Ceremonies of St John http://www.usviwedding.com/ ) . So far, I can recommend her. I also found her with thanks to these boards...
I did have the opportunity to meet her in person while vacationing in St John the week of Thanksgiving. I have visited both St Thomas and St John, and chose St John for its beauty and fewer people.
Just my two cents... 🙂
