Can anyone tell me what exactly goes on on July 4th in St. John's and if they think it's worth going and where they would recommend the best place to stay over for a night would be. Thanks...

A great parade. A good time to meet your local folks. A good time to have fun. A good time to find some local island foot in a Carnival village. A great fireworks display at 9 pm.

I'd say it's pretty tough to find a place. Lots of folks come over with their families from other islands for their few days of holiday, from PR and STX. I wouldn't exactly expect to find a place. Take the late ferry back to STT. It runs almost evry half hour through 1.00 am what would be the morning of 5th.

Magical might be a bit much, but it is a lot of fun. Can be hectic if you're used to a Macy's day parade.

And Theresa, don't be so sure.
