Hello everyone,

I'm going to JVD for the big New Years Baccannal. This will be my first time to do this and I was wondering if anyone could suggest what I should bring with me, and what sort of crazy to expect.

Thanks,
J.

99% chance is you will like it if you are looking for a crazy time - hope you get some company - like , pent house or playboy people at the north end of the road - ask the taxi driver, can't remember his name now !

Hello J.

Take as little as possiable so you don't have to worry about it. Your $ and passport and you. Some folks take a backpack with some booze and snacks and whatever else they want. Are you staying over there or coming back - that would effect what you bring with you. Crazy to expect - ahh a big big huge beach party, alcohol, music, lots of people - where anything could happen - hows that. 🙂

Here is the ferry info:

Ferry Service:

Inter-Island Boat Service which is the regular St. Thomas/St. John to JVD operator will be running at $60 round trip a ferry leaving Red Hook St. Thomas at 6pm and 8pm on New Years Eve December 31. Return times from Great Harbor Jost Van Dyke to Red Hook are at 1am and 9am on January 1st. The customer service person said they are already selling tickets and she expects to be all out of tickets by tommorrow. You can call and arrange to meet her at Red Hook information booth to purchase tickets.

Smiths Ferry Service is running a JVD ferry from Red Hook to JVD at $50 round trip and $35 one way. It leaves at 8pm from Red Hook and returns at 1:30am from Great Harbor JVD. Reservations are being taken, if you make a reservation you must present yourself at the ticket counter at least 45 minutes prior to leaving to pay for the reservation/ticket or else your reservation will be canceled and the spot given to a walk up.

Have a great time; I look forward to your report on how you enjoyed it.
