We are making our first trip to St. John in Aug. Any day trip recommendations to the BVI. We were planning on taking the ferry to Tortola one day but would like to do a day trip that visits White Bay in Jost.

If you are mainly interested in just getting to Jost and hanging out there for the day, the ferry is the cheapest way to do it. The Jost ferry only runs from STJ on Fri, Sat & Sun.

Depending on how many people are going you may want to look into renting a boat with or without a captain. Ocean Runner on St John. The prices are reasonable and that would give you the freedom to visit several places in one day. Look them up on the web.

We sailed with Capt. Bob on his 40' ketch "Spree" twice, once on a St. John snorkeling daysail and again to Jost (Foxy's and Soggy $ Bar). It is incredibly reasonable ($85 per person INCLUDING customs), and he takes a maximum of 6 passengers. He provides water, sodas, beer, and lots of great stories of his 18 years sailing the USVIs. He saild out of Cruz bay, and you can contact him at: (340) 771-3734.
