Suggestions on how to do a day trip to Jost Van Dyke from St. Thomas. I see mention about the ferry on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. What about Tuesday thru Thursday? Tips please. Thanks to whoever responds.

Don't know about STT, but we did a trip to Jost Van Dyke a few years ago from STJ. We caught a ferry from there (expensive tickets I think they were $80 pp) and a beautiful ferry ride to JVD. We went to White Bay and spent a long lazy afternoon drinking and enjoying the sun, laying in the hammocks. Good times! Then we visited that bar, Foxy's. It was ok but I wasn't feeling very well after all that sun n' fun. Then it was time to catch the ferry back to STJ and it was an hour late, which wasn't so bad, except there was nowhere to get out of the sun. The cool thing about the White Bay beach is the bar. When you order a drink, (Painkillers that day) the person tending bar hands you the a cup of ice, the mixer, and the booze. You can mix your own! Way cool! I made them (ahem) rather strong which is probably why I wasn't feeling so good at Foxy's. That'll teach me. We got back to STJ, but because we were late, there were about 3 boat loads of passengers waiting to go through customs so we had to wait for awhile there too. By that time we were starving so we ended up going for mexican after customs. So all in all a pretty good day. Enjoy making your drinks if you go to White Bay!!!

Hello,

The ferry operates on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only between Red Hook St. Thomas, Cruz Bay St. John and Jost Van Dyke British Virgin Islands. The trip takes about 45 minutes. Tickets are $40 round trip. There isn't a direct STT/STJ-Jost ferry on the other days. You might consider a charter; Glory Charters (340) 715-1865 does BVI, also Jester

Scubadu http://www.sailvi.com
or Shag http://www.shagexcursions.com/

Unless I'm mistaken (please correct if I am) you can take a ferry from JVD to Tortola any then one from Tortola to STT or STJ on other days at a number of times thru the day. At least the schedules looked that way to me.
