My wife and I will be on STJ in April for our 25th anniversary. She would like to head to STT for a day to get new wedding bands. Any stores in particular we should visit? Someone recommended Cardow's. How sceptical should I be of "our price versus the US mainland price"?
Thanks.

Cardow's is consissently voted Best in VI in some jewelry categories, so you should have no problems shopping there. At one time Little Switzerland had everythng priced with tags, so you knew what the price was (none of this calculating "your special price.") Jewels is also good - they have some of the popular designer brands.

We like to shop with Jackie at Ajanta's in Drakes Passage. High quality, good prices. Appraisals are 2-3 times our cost when we get home. As far as price compared to mainland, I've only seen on line and mail order places even come close to prices on STT. But I can vouch for the quality for those outlets. If you see something you REALLY like on STT, buy it. You won't be sorry.

Little Switzerland is now owned by Jewels, as is Columbian Emeralds. If you're looking for DESIGNER names, then Jewels is the place.

cardows was leslie caron's father and a member of the dowling family here and they merged their stores to become cardows, so they've been here for awhile anyway, i think dowling is the name

mickb: Healthy skepticism is a good thing. Check the prices in your neck of the woods before you come down. If you know what a good price is for the items you want, you will be able to bargain from a position of knowledge.
