Our family of 4 will be staying at the Renaissance in July for 1 week. We have definately decided on renting a vehicle for the week but can't decide on what kind. We do plan on visiting St. John probably two times... what should we go for: Jeep or 4 door sedan?
Oh, one more question, is the car ferry $25 one way or round trip?
Thanks!

There is no real need for a 4WD in St. John, unless you plan to do some offroad driving. All of the beaches and sites are accessible by car.
The round trip fare is $25 on two of the three barge companies. There is an additional $2 that is collected as port fees. The third barge company, Roanoke charges $35 plus the $2 for the round trip.

What are the deciding factors for the type of car.... personal perference in terms of driving.... how steep you think the roads are - so think its necessary to have jeep.... want to take the top down (if its a soft top) and drive around like that....

If its the steepness - like Ronnie said, a car is fine .
