Looking to rent a jeep next week in St John for 6 days and was wondering what companies can be recommended and which ones to stay away from?

We have been going to STJ for seven years and always rent from Courtesy. They are great. They'll pick you up at the ferry dock and bring you to their office to do paperwork. If for some reason you have a problem w/ the jeep during your stay they fix it immediately (we had a slow leak on a tire one year), a huge bonus is you can park in their lot while walking around Cruz Bay as parking is very limited. Every employee there is so nice to work with. We don't have a bad thing to say about them.

L&L ( www.bookajeep.com ) We have rented from them on all but one trip. That single trip made us appreciate them even more. They meet you at the dock and you complete the paperwork there. 10 minutes and your on your way. Load your luggage into your jeep as soon as you exit the ferry dock. Same with drop off. Profesional, reliable, courteous, competitive, new vehicles. They do not offer in town parking though. Not a problem for us as we travel in off season and are able to find parking.

That's good to know about being able to park on their lot. Thank you. Do you know if they do 3-4 day rentals as opposed to a whole week?

Don't use Conrad Sutton. It was not a friendly experience and the Jeep had transmission issues when we rented one for our honeymoon. When I notified them they treated me as if it was my fault and were reluctant to deal with it. Dropping it off was another run around.

I have to disagree with your opinion of Conrad. I've rented from them on both of my trips to St John and both experiences were positive. Running my own business I know first hand that things happen and 100% customer satisfaction is a very difficult thing to achieve.

We usually rent from Conrad Sutton too; we've gotten friendly with him over the years and beneath his semi-gruff exterior is a good man. Its nice to be able to park in his lot when in town. Last year we only needed a 3 day rental and ended up using Paris Car rental; really really great service. Have a great trip!

I have to admit that Mr Conrad was a little gruff when I met him on our first visit. On my second rental I sat on the bench beside him and just shot the breeze for a while. When you visit with him it obvious that he's a good guy with a desire to provide good service. But like I said in a previous post it's difficult to get 100% satisfaction, 100% of the time. No mater what you do there will be occasions when the ball gets dropped and you have a bad experience. Such is life 🙂

We have used both Conrad and C & C without issue. Coincidentally I have been trying to contact C & C for our trip in April without success. They show lowest rates on their site but listed as 2008-2009 so I have tried calling to get updates. Does anyone know if they are still operating?
