*we plan on renting a jeep for a few days on st john, starting on sunday. however we will be in st thomas all day monday getting marriage lisc. shopping,etc. we dont really want to pay for a days rental when we wont be using it at all. i have already contacted some jeep places about some sort of break in price. no deal. is it easy to get a one day rental, turn it in and then rent again on tues? we will be at gallows point so walking to town is no problem. thanks for the info

Find out if the company you are renting from lets you take the rental over to St. Thomas - that way you can drive yourselves around for the license and shopping ect.
If not... my quess is that when you rent for a week for example you get a better deal then a daily rate. You can rent a car for a day yes and then come back and rent for a week. So definately ask about what a day rental rate is and then a rental for the wed-to when you leave. Some car agents don't like doing reservations for 1 day rentals particularly during season. Call the rental places again and ask the price for one day rental and then for the week and see which works out better for you.
