We are planning to stay on St. Thomas Jan & Feb 2008. How can we obtain information about all scheduled social events during that time? Also when can we get info on churches that hold services on St. Thomas?

Hello Traveling Man,

On this site, at the top of the page see the Menu bar, choose About USVI, click on Events Calendar from the drop down. There are some events included already; check back as more will be added as we get information on them.

There are regularly scheduled happenings at bars and restaurants like happy hours, steel pan, Caribbean shows. When you arrive on island pick up the STT/STJ This Week at the airport baggage claim area. In it there is a page with these sorts of events, location, time.

For churches: what religion?

Churches - Any that welcome visitors from the mainland.

Also pick up the free weekly advertising newspaper, "The Island Trader" which is available throughout the island and is distributed every Thursday, You can also read it on-line by going to Virgin Islands Daily News and scrolling down to Island Trader.

There is an abundance of churches on island, all different denominations. I can't imagine any that wouldn't welcome visitors - we are a melting pot of cultures. Cheers!
